Remmon serial over IP technology provides distance-free communication between field units. For example, a PC located in New York can communicate with a PLC device located in Miami, just as if they were connected by serial cable. The technology provides the best solution for connecting any field device to HMI system.

Remmon serial over IP technology consists of:
- The R-Pipe, a compact RTU device, attached to a PLC
- An Internet server running Remmon application software
- A computer with Internet communication running Remmon CellPipe application software
The R-PIPE continuously tries to access the server. When it is connected, the client computer can access the server to establish serial communication with the PLC through the server. Remmon serial over IP technology supports serial communication from anywhere. Serial communication may be established from any computer connected to the Internet and running Remmon CellPipe application software. All the information is available only to the client.
