What is R-MODBUS?
The R-MODBUS software is installed locally on the server where the SCADA is installed, creating a virtual Ethernet network. The R-MODBUS middleware represents RTUs as standard IP devices on the network, thus enabling data from the remote devices to be displayed as if the devices were connected through the local network.
How does it work?
R-MODBUS creates a virtual Ethernet network on the local PC where the SCADA is installed, and portrays any RTU as a standard IP device on this network. The RTUs get a local IP from the network in the following format 127.0.0.XXX (localhost), and the SCADA communicates with this device using the Modbus TCP protocol.
Who needs it?
Users who want to communicate (read/write) with remote devices via standard SCADA systems, without adding the complexities of PLCs.
*The R-MODBUS requires installation of the MODBUS TCP adapter.
